Yes, the Bhima himself.

During Virata Parva, during the 13th year of their exile, the Pandavas lived in the kingdom of King Virata in disguise to avoid being detected by the Kauravas. During this time Rishi Durvasa, who was known for his ill temper and the habit of cursing if not offered the best hospitality, visited the King Virata’s Palace. Bhima had the task of cooking up a delicious meal for the Rishi to avoid his rage, but there was not much food in the kitchen other than a handful of vegetables. With hardly having any time at hand, Bhima quickly got down to preparing a dish using whatever ingredients that were available in the kitchen and created Avial. Luckily, Rishi Durvasa was immensely pleased with the meal and left the palace satisfied.

Cutting to present time, 2025. A recent interaction with a large Service Provider.

The CxO, was mentioning that they have various Strategic Business Units (SBU) with deep Technology domain expertise. However, when these specialists engage with their prospects, they are not able to get the Prospect’s actual requirement (Business Outcome). Since Specialization itself, becoming Blinkers. There are times, were in, the Account Manager must take multiple meetings with the Client, along with each Specialist to understand the actual requirement. With current market conditions, Clients are also not comfortable with multiple meetings. Clients are like Rishi Durvasa, they want their requirement to be understood by a person who can stitch a solution with all the available resources and may be with few additional resources, at a minimum cost of ownership.

Therefore, it has become imperative that each specialist understands the most popular Technologies across Domain at least at a high level, so that they get the big picture. Know, how each technology complement and produce the desired result in the Client environment.

The Return of the Generalist. Yes, Avial is a Superfood. We need Bhima who can cook a delicious Avial.

May be Micro Trainings on each Domain will help. Do you Agree?

Looking forward for your views
